KEEPERS OF THE TURF
A sampling of Stockbridge-trained supers

AS A LATE '80S STOCKBRIDGE GUY, Glenn LaChapelle is among the younger generation of Umie turf czars. Among this fraternity of golf course superintendents are some high rollers at a national level.

The address and title of Ted Horton ’67 – Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, California; vice president of resource management – qualify him as a super-superintendent. Mike Wallace ’70S of Connecticut recently ascended to the vice presidency of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

It was mostly by roaming the capacious links of www.GCSAA.org that we assembled the following list of alumni supers. According to Kevin Osgood ’87S – past president of the New England Superintendents Board of Directors, succeeded by classmate Bob Ruszala - in New England alone there are "loads of other graduates that are golf course superintendents, you have listed just a few."

Leonard Blodgett ’61S, Kittansett Club, Marion
